2 Hour Jeep Tour

Essential Wadi Rum. In 2 hours you will bounce through landscapes which leave you breathless, hike up a rusty red sand dune until you roll down feeling like a child again, and marvel at deep canyons and strange rock formations while you only feel more curious about the Bedouin.

Program

You can book this tour for a late afternoon arrival before you spend the night at our Camp - the recommended start time varies according to the season. Or you could tour after breakfast on your departure day. In this scenario the tour finishes around 10 am. We give you directions for meeting up on booking.

After we meet I will direct you to my house (Sulieman). We then enjoy a chat and some Bedouin tea before you head off on your tour.

During the tour you will visit the following sites:

  • Lawrence Spring - Our first stop takes you to Abu Ainah a natural spring now named after Lawrence of Arabia. The spring water is still used for grazing animals. Look out for camels who arrive to help themselves (they are not wild they have owners). This spring is one of 4 springs in a row along the mountains here which used to be the only source of spring water for miles around. There are also inscriptions here on a massive 'cheese shaped' rock at the foot of the mountain.

  • Red Sand Dunes - These dramatic red sand dunes are piled up against the side of a mountain. Head up for fantastic views from the top and then set free your inner child as you play in the sand. We challenge you to resist.

  • Khazali Canyon - Khazali is a dramatic mountain made up of a steep gnarly and crevassed red sandstone base topped with smoother rounded yellow sandstone. At Khazali you can visit and walk inside a dramatic canyon. Inscriptions can been seen on the canyon walls and you can see how water erosion has shaped the mountain. At the natural end of the canyon you may find a small pool with some hidden water. This is another reminder of the past and how local Bedouin used to rely on hidden rain water catchments like this one. This mountain has also played an important role providing shady spots even in the heat of summer when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. Look out for the old false fig tree entwined with a sandstone rock at the entrance to the canyon.

  • Little Bridge - Wadi Rum is full of fantastic rock formations and Little Bridge is one example. Here a little Bridge has formed as wind and water wore away at the sandstone. This bridge is easy to climb onto and in a great spot for photos as the view surrounding the formation are spectacular.

  • Sunset - No trip to Wadi Rum would be complete without taking the time to sit, soak up the views and watch the sun set. Enjoy. This is only included with afternoon start time approximately 2 hours before sunset (varies according to season)

After the tour you will either return to the village for your onward journey. Or we will take you to Wadi Rum Sky Camp for your overnight stay in Wadi Rum.
